What is a conversion? What does it have to do with SEO? If you don’t know the answer to these questions, you’re not alone. In fact, many people are unclear about what a conversion is and how it relates to search engine optimization. That’s why I’m writing this post – to clear things up for everyone who wants to know more about conversions and SEO. So let’s get started!
What is a conversion?
A conversion is a goal that a website visitor completes, such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or filling out a contact form. A conversion can also be an action that doesn’t result in a direct sale, but helps move the visitor further down the sales funnel. For example, if a visitor reads an informative blog post on your site and then clicks through to learn more about your product, that’s considered a conversion.
What is the goal of SEO?
The goal of SEO is to improve the visibility of a website in search engine results pages (SERPs). This is done by optimizing the website for certain keywords or phrases that potential customers are likely to search for. When someone searches for those keywords, your website should appear as high up in the results as possible. This increases the chances that the person will click through to your site, and hopefully complete a conversion.
How do you track conversions in SEO?
There are a few different ways to track conversions in SEO. One is by using Google Analytics. This is a free tool that can be installed on your website. Once it’s set up, it will track all sorts of data about your website visitors, including how they found your site, what pages they viewed, how long they stayed on each page, and whether or not they completed a conversion.
Another way to track conversions is by setting up goals in Google Analytics. A goal could be something like “Contact us” if you want to track how many people fill out your contact form. Or it could be “Sign up for newsletter” if you’re trying to increase the number of subscribers. Once you’ve set up a goal, you can see how many people have completed it and what percentage of visitors to your site overall are completing it.
There are other ways to track conversions as well, but these are two of the most popular and most effective.
